Ewen’s journey started when he moved to the area in 2017 when his wife; Kathleen re-claimed a family heritage home, the oldest building in town. They both have undertaken years of renovation and rebuilding to save the heritage landmark. While doing so, in researching the former owners, Ewen started to build family trees.

Ewen jokingly calls himself “A professional stalker.”  Ewen is not a certified genealogist, but he uses it as a tool to support the other research and to present factual information. In doing so, he also builds a tree. He is not always successful, but if he cannot find anything, he will let you know. His area of expertise is between the 17th century and 20th century, primarily within the province of Quebec, but does have data in other provinces and the United States. Ewen does not do searches in Europe, only because they are so inconclusive.

If you are from the Maritimes, Ontario, or Western Canada, or even the far north, Ewen can make you feel at home. After spending 33 years with the RCMP working in the prairies he can connect to almost everybody in a personal way. If you are from the USA or another English-speaking country you do not have to learn how to speak French for these tours. But “Bonjour” and “Merci” are encouraged.
